Contribute

We welcome pitches that make art more rewarding to look at, understand or make. A strong proposal has a clear question, a distinct point of view and a reader in mind, while staying open about uncertainty and interpretation.

What we welcome

Ideas may explore close looking, materials, art history, interpretation or creative practice. We are interested in focused pieces with a useful centre: a visual choice worth noticing, a material with an overlooked character, or a careful way to begin making.

What makes a strong pitch

Explain the proposed subject, the main idea you would develop and why it suits Honest Arts Journal. Mention the likely shape of the piece and the sources or context it will need. Keep the proposal specific enough to show how it differs from a general survey, and do not promise access or experience you do not have.

How to send an idea

Send your proposal through the Contact page and choose the editorial question option. A pitch is a proposal, not a guarantee of publication; please wait for a response before preparing a full article.
